Guangzhou China April 14, 2011 -CCM is going to take its new report, Prospect of Bio-pesticide in China to be offered at the end of April, 2011. This report presents the overview of pesticide industry in China from in-depth analysis on its production, technology, policies, application, influencing factors and SWOT analysis of top five producers.

Biopesticides are defined by US Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) as derived from natural materials like plants, bacteria, minerals and animals. Different from conventional pesticides which are generally synthetic materials that directly kill or inactivate the pests, biopesticides include microbial pesticides, plant-incorporated protestants and othersare less toxic, killing only the target pest, decomposing quickly, resulting in lower exposures and avoiding pollution.

While the overall market for pesticides is showing a decline, the biopesticides market is growing rapidly. Today, US is the largest biopesticide market with sales of about USD300m. Also, in past few years, it witnessed a great development of biopesticides in China. Statistics shows that the investment in the biopesticide sub sector amounted to $1.2 billion, up by 31% on a year-on-year basis in China in 2010. That is why the year 2010 was regarded as a bumper year for biopesticides. One of the main drivers behind the growth of biopesticides is the need to grow foods more sustainable with less environmental and human effects from agricultural activities.

In March 2011, China is plan to streamline the registration process and shorten the time to approve products of biopesticides which will provide more opportunities to the development of biopesticides. Another important driving factor is China's Food Safety Strategy. The Food Safety Strategy needs the sound development and wide application of biopesticides in farm products, which makes improvements in biopesticide formulation a newer trend.

International giants also have taken actions in 2010 to push the industry forward. AgraQuest partnered with Monsanto to develop biopesticides for seed treatments and formed a marketing deal with BASF to deliver Serenade fungicides to worldwide markets. Bayer acquired the biopesticide technology and assets of Israel-based Agrogreen.

Looking to the future, demand for biopesticides is expected to grow. What are other trends in the development of the promising industry? What's its prospect? What are the drivers and barriers in biopesticides? All the questions are available in CCM's report on biopesticide.
